In the event that there are fees, I would be grateful if you would inform me of the total charges in advance of fulfilling my request. I would prefer the request filled electronically, by e-mail attachment if available or CD-ROM if not.
Thank you in advance for your anticipated cooperation in this matter. I look forward to receiving your response to this request within 10 calendar days, as the statute requires.

Dear Ms. Roche,
Thank you for your response. Individual documents are not required. However, a detailed list compiling the following information on civil lawsuits brought against the police department would satisfy the request:
1. Case Caption
3. Race of Complainant (if available)
4. Nature of Lawsuit (excessive, force, etc)
5. Status of Case
6. Outcome of Case (Dismissed, Settlement Amount, etc.)
Thank you for all you hard work.
You are asking for a document that does not exist and the City has no duty to create a record that responds to your request. Gov. Code § 6252. Consequently, the City has no responsive document.
Sr. Deputy City Attorney
City of Fremont
