As you know, the Village of Fox Lake ("Village") received your March 21, 2024, request for public records pursuant to the Illinois Freedom of Information Act ("FOIA" or "Act."). On March 28, 2024, we extended the time to respond to your requests by five business days pursuant to Section 3(3). 5 ILCS 140/3(3). Please find our response attached. Please reference the number listed above if you have any questions regarding your FOIA response.

The purpose of this communication is to inform you that the Village is requesting additional time to comply with your request. The Village would like to request an additional five (5) business days for a limited number of reasons: 5 ILCS 140/3(e)(ii), (iii), (v), and (vi), and anticipates that it will respond to your requests by no later than the end of the business day on April 11, 2024.

The public body asserts the following facts in support of the above reasons for an extension of time: the request requires the collection of a substantial number of specified records, is couched in categorical terms, the records must be reviewed by personnel to determine if they are exempt from disclosure, and the Village cannot undertake these efforts within the initial time constraints without unduly burdening or interfering with our operations.

Please consider our request for additional time as we continue to apply our resources and efforts to fulfill your request. We look forward to your cooperation.
