Pursuant to the Florida Sunshine Law, I hereby request the following records:
1. A copy of any guidance, information, or policies distributed by Florida Atlantic University's administration, the State of Florida, or any other governmental authority to faculty or staff concerning House Bill 7 or Fla. Stat. § 1000.05(4). This request is limited to records generated on or after January 1, 2022.
This request is part of a survey being conducted of every public university or college in Florida. Please note that this request does not seek a search of faculty or student email accounts or records. These requests should in no way be construed to include a review or search of email accounts, websites, or other forms of data or document retention which are controlled by students, alumni, or faculty members, nor by governmental or advisory bodies controlled by the same, except insofar as any such individuals also serve in an administrative capacity and the records were created or are held by the individual in that capacity. Any search should be limited to documents held by the administration and/or its staff members, including records created or maintained by persons acting in the capacity of administrators or staff members.
The requested documents will be made available to the general public, and this request is not being made for commercial purposes.
In the event that there are fees, I would be grateful if you would inform me of the total charges in advance of fulfilling my request. I would prefer the request filled electronically, by e-mail attachment if available or CD-ROM if not.

This will confirm that your public records request for information has been received, acknowledged, and is being forwarded to the appropriate custodian(s) of records for further processing, including to determine whether such documents exist, and if so, the location at which the documents can be accessed.
Should the completion of your request involve duplication costs, FAU will provide an itemized estimate thereof. Should your request necessitate an extensive use of information technology resources, an extensive clerical or supervisory assistance, or both, the itemized estimate will also include any such special service charge(s). FAU will furnish the requested copies upon receipt of payment of such fee(s) prescribed by law and reflected on an itemized estimate. Please note that FAU follows Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis' Cost Recovery Policy, which can be viewed at www.flgov.com/cost-recovery-program/<http://www.flgov.com/cost-recovery-program/>.
Regarding the format of your request, please note that, generally, FAU must provide a copy of the record in the medium requested if FAU maintains the record in that medium, and FAU may charge a fee which shall be in accordance with Ch. 119, F.S. Section 119.01(2)(f). FAU is not ordinarily required to reformat its records and provide them in a particular form as demanded by the requestor.
FAU is committed to responding to all public records requests promptly and within a reasonable period. What constitutes a reasonable period of time may depend upon various factors, such as:
· the format, nature, and/or volume of the requested record(s);
· whether a request calls for the release of exempt and/or confidential information, wholly or in part;
· whether the requested records require redactions of exempt or confidential information;
· whether the extensive use of information technology resources or clerical services will be required;
· whether a request calls for records in the custody of multiple custodians of records, namely, different FAU departments or offices.
FAU is dedicated to a policy of openness, honesty, and cooperation. Furthermore, FAU adheres to all applicable state and federal laws and regulations governing public records, which define the parameters of legal access to information. In order to properly respond to your request, Media Relations may work with the General Counsel's Office to identify and redact/exclude any exempt and/or confidential information, and to ensure that all applicable state and federal laws and regulations are followed.
