Pursuant to the Massachusetts Public Records Law, M.G.L. c.66, §10, I hereby request the following records:
Any and all complaints referencing Animal Control or any animal shelters in Fall River. The time period for which I am seeking complaints is January 1, 2012 until the date this request is processed.
I also request that, if appropriate, fees be waived as we believe this request is in the public interest, as suggested but not stipulated by the recommendations of the Massachusetts Supervisor of Public Records. The requested documents will be made available to the general public free of charge as part of the public information service at MuckRock.com, processed by a representative of the news media/press and is made in the process of news gathering and not for commercial usage.
I expect the request to be filled in an accessible format, including for screen readers, which provide text-to-speech for persons unable to read print. Files that are not accessible to screen readers include, for example, .pdf image files as well as physical documents.
In the event that fees cannot be waived, I would be grateful if you would inform me of the total charges in advance of fulfilling my request. I would prefer the request filled electronically, by e-mail attachment if available or CD-ROM if not.
Thank you in advance for your anticipated cooperation in this matter. I look forward to receiving your response to this request within 10 calendar days, as the statute requires.

We have received your requests regarding complaints. I was wondering if you could help me by fine tuning what type of complaints you are looking for regarding animal shelters. We actually have two shelters within the city of Fall River. Are you looking for dog barking complaints, complaints about abuse of animals by the shelters... This will help with determining the cost of the information that you are interested in.
Professional Standards researched complaints against the Animal Control Officers since 1/1/12 up to present, and have found no complaints against any officers within the Fall River Police Department.
We are unable to provided you with an accessible format for screen readers or CD-ROM versions as we do not have that technology. I would be more than happy to provide you with paper reports which you in turn can make accessible for screen readers and such.

Thank you for getting back to me. I am specifically seeking any and all complaints about the shelters (abuse of animals, mismanagement, etc). I am not seeking complaints made by citizens who are seeking the services of animal control or an animal shelter. I hope that is clear enough. Please do not hesitate to contact me.

I checked with Fall River Animal Control and they haven't received any complaints against the two shelters in the city:

Forever Paws
You could check with MSPCA and Animal Rescue League of Boston to see if they received any complaints against the shelters. If you have any questions, please feel free to call me at 508-245-3919, x-133.
