To Whom It May Concern:

Pursuant to the New York Freedom of Information Law, I hereby request the following records:

All records concerning the employment of George Gordon Battle Liddy, who is described as employed by this office from 1966 to 1970 (years approximate and inclusive).

Records which may be considered responsive include the following (not exclusively):

Application for employment;
Notes of qualification or disqualification for service
Evaluation of performance for purposes of continued employment, advancement, demotion, censure or termination;
Records concerning changes in position or compensation including pay raises or penalties;
Any records of letters of recommendation for outside employment.

Mr. Liddy is deceased as of March 30, 2021. State Freedom of Information Law recognizes that privacy rights are diminished post-mortem, and records should therefore be made public. Additionally, FOIL balances the privacy interest against the public interest, and in this instance the public interest in understanding Liddy's career is overwhelming as he is widely acknowledged as a third-rate burglar in the employ of President Richard Nixon.

Please find attached an obituary that will substantiate that Mr. Liddy is dead and is a subject of much public interest.

The requested documents will be made available to the general public, and this request is not being made for commercial purposes.

In the event that there are fees, I would be grateful if you would inform me of the total charges in advance of fulfilling my request. I would prefer the request filled electronically, by e-mail attachment if available or CD-ROM if not.

Thank you in advance for your anticipated cooperation in this matter. I look forward to receiving your response to this request within 5 business days, as the statute requires.

Sincerely,

T. McElwee
