Pursuant to the North Carolina Public Records Law, I hereby request the following records:

1) A copy of any threatening emails to the Durham County Library on Saturday, April 13, 2024.

2) Any recording of any threatening phone call to the Durham County Library on Saturday, April 13, 2024.

3) A copy of any threatening email sent to WBTV on April 13, 2024. Because this threat concerned the Durham County Library, it may have been forwarded to the library.

The requested documents will be made available to the general public, and this request is not being made for commercial purposes.

In the event that there are fees, I would be grateful if you would inform me of the total charges in advance of fulfilling my request. I would prefer the request filled electronically, by e-mail attachment if available or CD-ROM if not.

A message was sent to you regarding record request #24-113:

Good afternoon,

Please find listed below the events that took place on January 13, 2024:

*  A news station in Charlotte was notified via email of a bomb threat related to Rainbow Storytime scheduled for Durham County Main Library at 11:00am that day.

* Charlotte Police were notified, who then immediately notified Durham Police. Durham police arrived on site at approximately 10:30 a.m. to notify security and staff of the threat.

* Staff and security safely and efficiently evacuated staff and customers from the building.

To answer your specific questions:

* Durham County Library did not directly receive an email threat on April 13, 2024. We were notified in person by the Durham Police Department.

* Durham County Library did not directly receive a threatening phone call on April 13, 2024. We were notified in person by the Durham Police Department.

* Durham County Library is not in possession of the email that was initially sent to the TV station in Charlotte.
