Thank you for contacting the Dane County Clerk of Circuit Court/Register in Probate Office. Your request for Circuit Court/Probate records has been received. Staff will be assigned shortly to fulfill your request. You may expect to receive your requested records within one to ten business days.

Wisconsin statute 814.61 specifies the following fees associated with fulfilling a request for circuit court records. These fees may not be waived.

· Search fee of $5.00, applied if you do not provide case numbers. You may search for case numbers at the Wisconsin Circuit Court Access website at https://wcca.wicourts.gov/case.html so that you may avoid this fee.

· Copy fee of $1.25 per page, applied regardless of the format of the document (e.g. paper vs. electronic).

· If certification of copies is desired, the fee is $5.00 for each, plus postage (certified copies are produced only on paper and are mailed to the requestor).

· If exemplification of copies is desired, the fee is $15.

· Standard postage fees apply for all mailed documents.

· Copy fee of $1.00 per page, applied regardless of the format of the document (e.g. paper vs. electronic).

· If certification of copies is desired, the fee is $4.00 for each, plus postage (certified copies are produced only on paper and are mailed to the requestor).

· If exemplification of copies is desired, the fee is $12.

· Standard postage fees apply for all mailed documents.

Prepayment will be required if your request exceeds $5.00.

Express Delivery: Our office does not provide express delivery. If you need express delivery, you must provide a pre-paid envelope addressed to you. Please provide a telephone number so that we may call you to set up pick when your record request is ready to be mailed back to you or have someone local pick up your request.

An invoice will be generated and emailed to you. The invoice will itemize costs and describe available methods of payment, including how to pay by credit card. Be sure to include the invoice number in subsequent communication. The invoice number is located in the upper left hand corner of that document.

For customers with an established quarterly billing account through our office, your account will be charged accordingly.

Please be advised that our office is not the keeper of vital records (birth, death, marriage certificates, etc.) For information about obtaining copies of vital records, visit the Wisconsin Vital records website at https://www.dhs.wisconsin.gov/vitalrecords/index.htm

Our office also does not maintain records of law enforcement agencies, i.e. police/incident reports. Inquiries about these records should be made to the issuing police agency.
