Pursuant to the Texas Public Information Act, I hereby request the following records:
- the written and/or audio confession of TDCJ inmate Kenneth Thomas in regard to the post-conviction review of the post-conviction review of the case of Gary J. Walker (cause number #F92-02704).
- Any other witness statements or interviews collected during the CIU's investigation, excluding attorney work product.
I was told that former Dallas County D.A. Craig Watkins investigated his case and obtained both an audio and written confession from a TDCJ inmate, Kenneth Thomas, implicating Thomas and another person in the murder. I filed a previous request for this information in August 2018, but it was rejected on the basis that the review was ongoing.
The requested documents will be made available to the general public, and this request is not being made for commercial purposes.
In the event that there are fees, I would be grateful if you would inform me of the total charges in advance of fulfilling my request. I would prefer the request filled electronically, by e-mail attachment if available or CD-ROM if not.
Thank you in advance for your anticipated cooperation in this matter. I look forward to receiving your response to this request within 10 business days, as the statute requires.
