1. The total number of uses of force, by type of force used, between 2013-2017 (separated by year).
2. The total number of use of force complaints reported between 2013-2017 (separated by year).
3. The total number of use of force complaints sustained between 2013-2017 (separated by year).
The requested documents will be made available to the general public, and this request is not being made for commercial purposes.
In the event that there are fees, I would be grateful if you would inform me of the total charges in advance of fulfilling my request. I would prefer the request filled electronically, by e-mail attachment if available or CD-ROM if not.
Thank you in advance for your anticipated cooperation in this matter. I look forward to receiving your response to this request within 10 calendar days, as the statute requires.

Hi, my follow up request was for the number of *subjects* force was used against, not the total number of types of force used (for example, police could have used multiple types of force against a single subject). Can you please send me the number of subjects force was used against in 2016 and 2017 (separated by year). Thanks,

HI Sam,
We checked our files for “the number of *subjects* force was used against for 2016 & 2017. There are no responsive records to your request as the Police Department does not use the records in the requested format. To obtain records in the requested format will require computer programming to extract and compile this information from the City’s electronic database. Pursuant to the provisions of Government Code section 6253.9, the requestor is responsible for the cost of programming and computer services necessary to produce a copy of the records, including the cost to construct the records.
Please let me know if you would like for me to obtain an estimate of programming and computer fees.
