Pursuant to the Illinois Freedom of Information Act (5 ILCS 140/1 to 11), I hereby request the following records:
All communications sent to or from this office referencing the terms "sanctuary city," "sanctuary cities," or variations thereof from the period January 1, 2017 through December 1st, 2017.
The requested documents will be made available to the general public, and this request is not being made for commercial purposes.
In the event that there are fees, I would be grateful if you would inform me of the total charges in advance of fulfilling my request. I would prefer the request filled electronically, by e-mail attachment if available or CD-ROM if not.
Thank you in advance for your anticipated cooperation in this matter. I look forward to receiving your response to this request within 5 business days, as the statute requires.

All communications referencing the terms "sanctuary city", "sanctuary cities", "city of sanctuary", "cities of sanctuary:, "city of refuge", "refugee", and/or "refugees" from the period January 1, 2017 through December 1st, 2017 either sent or received from employee email addresses belonging to the following Mayor's Office staff:

Brooke Collins

Hello:
With the holiday last Monday, your response is due today.
I have received search results back and the records still number in the range of burdensome. However, I took a look at the records and about 1,000 of the emails returned are NewsClips or emails from news organizations such as the Washington Post or Newsweek that one or both of the recipients receive on a daily and/or weekly basis. There is no additional information in these emails (i.e. they were not forwarded around and no comments were made by staff.) If you will agree to eliminate the clips from the search results, I can provide the remaining records, after review and redaction for exempt material. It would technically be considered a new narrowed request, but I would do my best to provide them before the ten days are complete.
Let me know if this is an acceptable solution/narrowing. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me.
