Copies of contacts and correspondence between DMV employees and officials and employees of Cruise LLC, dated between July 8, 2022 and August 3, 2022.

This request includes, but is not limited to, presentations, permits, schedules, schematics, budget documents, and correspondence between state representatives and the company.

The requested documents will be made available to the general public, and this request is not being made for commercial purposes.

In the event that there are fees, I would be grateful if you would inform me of the total charges in advance of fulfilling my request. I would prefer the request filled electronically, by e-mail attachment if available or CD-ROM if not.

Dear Aarian Marshall:

The California Department of Motor Vehicles acknowledges receipt of your email dated and received on August 9, 2022, requesting the following records pursuant to the California Public Records Act (Government Code section 6250 et seq.).

"Copies of contacts and correspondence between DMV employees and officials and employees of Cruise LLC, dated between July 8, 2022 and August 3, 2022.

This request includes, but is not limited to, presentations, permits, schedules, schematics, budget documents, and correspondence between state representatives and the company."
Government Code section 6253, subdivision (c), allows the Department a fourteen (14) day extension to respond to a California Public Records Act request in "unusual circumstances," as enumerated in subdivision (c). The following "unusual circumstances" apply to this matter:

* The need to search for and collect the requested records from field facilities or other establishments that are separate from the office processing the request.
* The need for consultation, which shall be conducted with all practicable speed, with another agency having substantial interest in the determination of the request or among two or more components of the agency having substantial subject matter interest therein.

Accordingly, the Department will inform you of its decision within fourteen (14) days from the date of this communication.
