Good morning Ms. Madrid,
I have a few questions regarding your recent Public Records Act request to CDCR (the original email is located below this email). If you could please get back to me on these questions, we can start searching for the records. The questions, which pertain to request #2, are:

1) What is the time frame for "... the number of inmates originally housed at the time of the contract"?
2) Do we assume the count per year is number of individuals who spent at least one day there?
3) Do we assume transfers means the number of individuals that transferred from the facility in a given year (individual counted once per year), or the number of observations (individuals could be counted multiple times per year, if they left, and then were sent back to the facility and then transferred out again, within the same year)?

Thank you!

Hi Kathryn,

Below you will find clarification of your numbered questions.

1. Time of contract means from the date the first contracted inmate arrived at CCA Florence. What was the inmate population contracted for, and inmate population by year.
2. Yes, every inmate.
3. Transferred -paroled means, every inmate who arrived at the institution for reason of short or long term housing and then subsequently left the institution with out return.

Thank you,

Bonnie Madrid

HI Kathryn,
Since this is not a parole or BPH related issue, I am not familiar with the subject matter.
Thanks,

A letter stating the requester must agree to or prepay assessed or estimated fees in order for the agency to continue processing the request.

Hi Bonnie,
I understand that you received a cost letter from June DaVoe here at CDCR in regards to your Public Records Act request of June 4, 2014. Normally I would coordinate between all of the CDCR divisions that have responsive records, so as to avoid confusion regarding total costs, etc. You will be receiving another cost letter from me which will reflect the total cost minus the costs in June's letter. I hope this makes sense. Please let me know if you have any questions, and I apologize for the confusion.
Thanks,
Kathy

Hi Kathryn,

Thank you, was a little confused with all the parties. Would it be possible to separate or distinguish what responsive information is available now and what requested information requires the SAS program ?

Thanks,

Bonnie Madrid

From: Clark, Kathryn A.@CDCR

Hi Bonnie,
Attached is the cost letter for your Public Records Act request regarding the Florence, Arizona facility. Please note that I have not included the cost figure from June DaVoe's previous letter to you. If you would like to combine both into one payment, please let me know.

Thank you!

Hi Kathryn,

I have sent payment in for the amount of $43.56. I will review the responsive documents and if the requested information is not in the documents I will then mail in the SAS program fees. It was my hope that CDCR would readily have information available on the number of inmates that have been transferred to Florence Arizona with out having to write a separate program. I did not get clarification from a earlier response as to what information required the SAS program.

Thank you for your help.

To Whom It May Concern:

I wanted to follow up on the following Freedom of Information request, copied below, and originally submitted on June 4, 2014. Please let me know when I can expect to receive a response, or if further clarification is needed. You had assigned it reference number #2014-002992.

Thank you for your help.

From: Beaty, Dennis@CDCR

Dear Ms. Madrid:

Please be advised that Ms. Clark is not in the office, and I do not know when she will return. So I have done some research, and I take this opportunity to answer your question regarding the information you would receive should you elect to pay for the computer services necessary to extract the data you have requested from our data bases. I am attaching a letter that Offender Information Services Branch sent to you on June 13, 2014. As you can see, the information that you would get is described as follows:

• The number of inmates originally housed in the Florence, Arizona facility at the time of
the original contract:
o from the date the first contracted inmate arrived, and
o the contracted population for that first contract.
• The annual inmate population by year:
o 2010, 2011,2012, 2013, and 2014
o counting each individual regardless oflength of stay.
• The number of inmates transferred and/or paroled since January 20 II till present which
includes every inmate who arrived at the institution then subsequently left without
returning.

Thank you for your inquiry.
