From: James S.

To Whom It May Concern:

On June 27, 2019, the San Francisco Chronicle, NBC Bay Area, and several other media outlets reported about a simultaneous air compressor failure on two cars which caused a "Fleet of the Future" train to break down. BART's acting director, Robert Powers, acknowledged that this was not the first time that there have been air compressor problems on the new cars.

Pursuant to the California Public Records Act, I hereby request the following records:

- Engineering and maintenance documents that may be relevant to the aforementioned issues, including but not limited to Incident reports, maintenance records, and service bulletins for the air compressors and/or the compressor coolant system on the "Fleet of the Future" D and E series train cars.
- Official BART communications made to or from Bombardier or other suppliers regarding the air compressors or compressor coolant system on the "Fleet of the Future" D and E series train cars.
- Any reports, memos, or presentations made to the BART Board of Directors regarding air compressor and/or compressor coolant system issues on the "Fleet of the Future" D and E series train cars.

The requested documents will be made available to the general public, and this request is not being made for commercial purposes.

In the event that there are fees, I would be grateful if you would inform me of the total charges in advance of fulfilling my request. I would prefer the request filled electronically, by e-mail attachment if available or CD-ROM if not.

Thank you in advance for your anticipated cooperation in this matter.

I look forward to receiving your response to this request within 10 calendar days, as the statute requires.

Sincerely,

James Schwinabart
