Dear Mark Ritchie,
Thank you for your patience.
The State Bar is in the process of assessing whether it has any documents responsive to your request. We anticipate having a final response by Wednesday, February 15.
Please note, however, that attorneys licensed in California are not required by law to carry malpractice/professional liability insurance. There is no central depository for this type of information, and the State Bar does not collect or maintain it. As such, we do not have any records responsive to the bond portion of your request.
The State Bar does require that attorneys disclose to clients in most instances if they do NOT carry malpractice insurance.
Please see Rule 1.4.2 of the California Rules of Professional Conduct<https://gcc02.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.calbar.ca.gov%2FPortals%2F0%2Fdocuments%2Frules%2FNew-Rules-of-Professional-Conduct-1.pdf&data=05%7C01%7Cpra%40calbar.ca.gov%7C44d58ea160354c37d57a08daa0fd4953%7C25577ba53ebd4ec590d70e8148a8318a%7C0%7C0%7C637999306972803596%7CUnknown%7CTWFpbGZsb3d8eyJWIjoiMC4wLjAwMDAiLCJQIjoiV2luMzIiLCJBTiI6Ik1haWwiLCJXVCI6Mn0%3D%7C3000%7C%7C%7C&sdata=UFJN4tB7qjyvWbOYvPDJPB7%2FtFMDENXvKAMHPDSVabk%3D&reserved=0> for details of when and how this applies.
