There are two types of email searches:

1. Keyword search - This search will only check the server's live emails (not deleted). There is no fee to do the initial automated keyword search, but once the emails are located, we charge hourly ($25.00) for the review and redaction process. Our system works best with specific keywords and when specific employees are identified to search. We cannot search email domains.

2. Email Restore –We need a time frame and the names of employees you want the emails restored for this search. ITD charges based on the amount of archive tapes that need to be processed, per employee. The restoration process is labor-intensive and can be costly. This process does not search for keywords, it will only restore emails to be researched and reviewed. You pay separately for the ITD email restore and the additional hourly fee is for reviewing and redacting the emails.

Special Note: Regarding either of the email research processes described above. Emails deleted before the scheduled nightly email backup cannot be restored and will not be included in the keyword search. If an employee deletes an email created/received on the same day it was created/received but prior to the nightly backup, those emails will not be captured in the backup.

Most requestors start with Option 1 – the keyword search because it is less costly. Please contact me directly if you have any questions.
