Pursuant to Florida's Sunshine Law (Fla. Stat. secs. 119.01 to 119.15 (1995)), I hereby request the following records:
-Policies on the use of helicopters by the agency.
-Regulations on the use of helicopters by the agency.
-Usage logs of helicopter use from the last five years.
-Any financial data from the last five years on helicopter upkeep and purchasing.
The requested documents will be made available to the general public, and this request is not being made for commercial purposes.
In the event that there are fees, I would be grateful if you would inform me of the total charges in advance of fulfilling my request. I would prefer the request filled electronically, by e-mail attachment if available or CD-ROM if not.

Regarding your request of usage logs for the past five years, the Record retention schedule is one year. However, those documents may still be in archives. The logs are in physical hardcopy form. Based on previous requests, the Aviation Unit is estimating that reviewing, redacting and copying five year's worth of records (approximately 5,500 pages) will take approximately 80 hours and cost approximately $3,500. Additionally, due to staffing shortages (personnel transitions and recent retirement) in the Aviation unit, this portion of the request will reasonable take about three months to complete, unless completed at an overtime rate.
Please advise how you wish to proceed with your request. Thank you.
