Pursuant to the state Freedom of Information Act, G.L.M. c.66, §10, I hereby request the following records:

Any memos, reports, emails or meeting minutes relating to Boston Police Department's regulation of pedicab hackneys, including dress code for the operators.

I also request that, if appropriate, fees be waived as we believe this request is in the public interest, as suggested but not stipulated by the recommendations of the Massachusetts Supervisor of Public Records. The requested documents will be made available to the general public free of charge as part of the public information service at MuckRock.com, processed by a representative of the news media/press and is made in the process of news gathering and not for commercial usage.

In the event that fees cannot be waived, I would be grateful if you would inform me of the total charges in advance of fulfilling my request. I would prefer the request filled electronically, by e-mail attachment if available or CD-ROM if not.

Dear Mr. Musgrave,

I have been informed by the Hackney Unit that this information has already been provided to you through Media Relations. Hackney received a request for identical information from Media Relations on your behalf.

However, I have attached the information to this email as well. I have been advised by the Hackney Unit that the attached document is the only documentation in the Department's possession that is relative to your request.

Sincerely,

From: Shawn Musgrave

Dear Ms. DePalma:

Thank you for these documents, which were not, in fact, passed along by Media Relations.

Could you clarify whether I can expect any further documents? As you will see from my original request, I addressed my inquiry to Boston Police Department generally, and not only to the Hackney Department. Additionally, I would expect that in the five years since 2007 there might additional documents (including email and other correspondence) from Hackney itself.

Thank you for your assistance with this matter.

Best regards,
Shawn Musgrave

Good Afternoon,

The information that you have been provided through the Legal Advisors Office, is the only information that the department has to forward to you. You may want to contact the Mayor's Press Office to see if Boston Transportation or the City Hall Law Department may have any further documents for you.
