Pursuant to the California Public Records Act, I hereby request the following records:
1. The total number of police use of force incidents, broken down by type of force used, between 2013-2017 (separated by year).
2. The total number of people that police used force against, between 2013-2017 (separated by year).
3. The total number of police use of force complaints reported between 2013-2017 (separated by year).
4. The total number of police use of force complaints sustained between 2013-2017 (separated by year).
The requested documents will be made available to the general public, and this request is not being made for commercial purposes.
In the event that there are fees, I would be grateful if you would inform me of the total charges in advance of fulfilling my request. I would prefer the request filled electronically, by e-mail attachment if available or CD-ROM if not.
Thank you in advance for your anticipated cooperation in this matter. I look forward to receiving your response to this request within 10 calendar days, as the statute requires.

Dear Mr. Sinyangwe, The Beverly Hills City Clerk's Office is in receipt of your public records request dated January 30, 2019. In accordance with Government Code § 6253 (c), this e-mail serves as the City’s written response. You requested records related to Police use of force incidents for the period of 2013-2017.
There are no documents responsive to items (3) number of complaints by year and (4) sustained complaints by year, because the City does not track this information in a report.
The City is in the process of searching for documents responsive to items (1) total number of incidents broken down by type and (2) number of people Police used force against by year. You are hereby notified that the time limit to provide a response for these items will be extended by fourteen (14) days to Monday, February 25, 2019, for the following reason(s):
The need to search for, collect, and appropriately examine a voluminous amount of separate and distinct records (Gov. Code § 6253(c)(2)).
