I am writing to follow up on my original request made on 7/18/17

Thank you very much for providing the information we requested. I am writing to ask for some clarification regarding the data on officer-involved shootings you provided us with. What constitutes an officer-involved shooting in your department? There seems to be a description of "Firearm Discharged" and "Person Shot". We need to discover if Firearm Discharge is at both people and animals or if Person Shot means only if someone was hit. For example, some departments do not count misses while others count all discharges; some include shots at animals. Other departments include intentional and accidental shootings; others do not. Please explain to us how your department classifies the OIS included in the numbers you sent to us.

Can you please explain to us if the complaints you sen tot us may be better understood as allegations? What is the difference between priority one and priority 2 complaints? It is unclear what constitutes a complain and what constitutes an allegations. What does the data you sent me show? Complaints or allegations?

Very Respectfully, Alex Cartwright
