The Virginia Department of Criminal Justice Services awarded $75 million in American Rescue Plan Act funding as part of the Law Enforcement Equipment-Training Grant Program in order “to make one-time grants to state and local law enforcement agencies located in the Commonwealth, including colleges and universities, and, local and regional jails, for the purpose of training and purchasing equipment and supplies to support law enforcement related activities." https://www.dcjs.virginia.gov/sites/dcjs.virginia.gov/files/cjsb-materials/2023-05-11/Law%20Enforcement%20ARPA%20Grant%20Program.pdf

According to the press release from the Virginia Department of Criminal Justice Services, Amherst County was awarded $279,000 (grant application # 509748) as part of the Law Enforcement Equipment-Training Grant Program.

Pursuant to the Virginia Freedom of Information Act, I hereby request the following records:

A copy of all documents, including but not limited to, applications, agreements, and reporting documents related to the $279,000 received as part of the Law Enforcement Equipment-Training Grant Program.

The requested documents will be made available to the general public, and this request is not being made for commercial purposes.

In the event that there are fees, I would be grateful if you would inform me of the total charges in advance of fulfilling my request. I would prefer the request filled electronically, by e-mail attachment if available or CD-ROM if not.

Thank you in advance for your anticipated cooperation in this matter. I look forward to receiving your response to this request within 5 business days, as the statute requires.
