Best way to write a FOIA for employee employee emails?
I’m an employee of the Bureau of Prisons in which a supervisor started an unofficial investigation on me (which is out of his scope of employeement) using his work email on official time. I’m very new to FOIA request and would very much appreciate if someone could help me with writing one so I eliminate errors that would prolong my request. Thank you in advance.
Use what you know about the emails in order to make the request as specific as possible. Make sure to have a good date range, to specify the exact email address you want searched, and possibly keywords if you think that will work. “I request all emails sent or received by email@example.com from date1 to date2 including either of the following words: “yourfirstname”, “yourlastname”.”
