Pursuant to the Government Records Access and Management Act, this is a request for records related to this agency’s receipt of and response to public records requests.

For the period from January 1, 2018 through December 31, 2023, please provide all logs and available related details of public records requests received by this office. Responsive materials include those that describe the following details for each public records request received by this office:
The name of the requester and the affiliated organization
The date on which the request was received by this office
A description of the requested records
The tracking number assigned by this office to the request
The date on which the request was closed by this office
The final disposition of the request, including, if possible, whether the request was fully fulfilled, partially fulfilled, rejected in its entirety, resulted in no responsive documents, or remains open
Details on exemptions applied to responsive and withheld records
The number of released pages

Please provide the responsive materials in the form of a spreadsheet (either in CSV or XLS file formats), if possible.

This request is being made as part of an academic and journalistic project and is not being made for any commercial reason. In the event that there are fees, I would be grateful if you would inform me of the total charges in advance of fulfilling my request. I would prefer the request be fulfilled electronically, via e-mail attachment, the upload link in the footer of this message, or Dropbox, if possible.

The Utah Highway Patrol (“UHP”) recently received your records request
dated January
11, 2024, in which you requested the following (sic):
For the period from January 1, 2018, through December 31, 2023, please
provide all logs

office. Responsive
materials include those that describe the following details for each public
records request

The release of records you have requested is governed by the provisions of
the
Government Records Access and Management Act (GRAMA) found in Utah Code
Ann. § 63G-
2-101 et seq.
In response to your requests, UHP reviewed its records and determined it
does not
maintain such a record in the format requested. UHP does not maintain a log
and available
related details of all public records received by the office. According to
Utah Code Ann. § 63G-
2-201(7), “in response to a request, a governmental entity is not required
to: (i) create a record;
(ii) compile, format, manipulate, package, summarize, or tailor
information; (iii) provide a record
in a particular format, medium, or program not currently maintained by the
governmental entity.”
Consequently, your request is hereby denied pursuant to Utah Code Ann. §
63G-2-202.

You may appeal this decision within 30 days from the date of this letter.
Any appeal
