Good morning,

Currently, your request is number 16 in the request queue. We apologize for the delay. We are a small team (one person – me) and have several complex requests ahead of yours. It is impossible to provide you an estimate since it depends on how many documents need to be reviewed and possibly redacted with each request. Every request is different. However, we are getting new staff members in July so I hope to get things moving soon.

I will keep you posted.

Stacy,

On 6/8/23 you told me I was 16 in the queue. And on 8/22/23 you said “ We are currently working on your request. We hope to get you a response in the next few weeks.”

I was expecting a response a few months ago. How is this now number 30 in the queue?

Thank you,

From: Federal Housing Finance Agency

That was definitely an error on my part. What I think happened was I mistakenly gave you the count for 2022-FOIA-017 (which is still open), not 2023-FOIA-017 – your request. Again, I apologize for the delay. We are a one person shop and still have several 2021 and 2022 requests open. I just onboarded a contractor to help with our backlog but it will still take some time to catch up with all of our complex request.

From: John Ricker

No need to apologize for the delay, especially if you’re still the only employee!! Hope the new contractor works out :)
Thank you for the explanation :)

Re: FHFA FOIA No. 2023-FOIA-017

Dear John Ricker:

This letter is in response to your Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request, dated January 20, 2023. Your request was received in the Federal Housing Finance Agency's (FHFA) FOIA office on January 20, 2023, and assigned FHFA FOIA request number 2023-FOIA-017. Your request was processed in accordance with the FOIA (5 U.S.C. § 552) and FHFA's FOIA regulation (12 CFR Part 1202).

You requested, the names (and descriptions if available) of datasets/databases containing home prices/values. Specifically, any database that identifies median home prices/values by MSA utilizing data from the Enterprises, preferably datasets which have been created for 20+ years. And on January 20, 2023, you confirmed that you were "only requesting the names of the datasets and not the information in the datasets."

A search of FHFA files and records located material responsive to your request. FHFA has determined that the material is releasable in its entirety. The following datasets have calculated aggregates for home prices from Enterprise data.

* FHFA House Price Index - MSA-level house price index
* National Mortgage Database (NMDB) - Aggregate Statistics have state-level average house values
* Uniform Appraisal Dataset (UAD) - Aggregate Statistics have MSA-level mean and median appraised values

Also, information from the above sources is also available on fhfa.gov at the following links: www.fhfa.gov/hpi<http://www.fhfa.gov/hpi>, www.fhfa.gov/nmdbdata<http://www.fhfa.gov/nmdbdata>, www.fhfa.gov/uad<http://www.fhfa.gov/uad> and www.fhfa.gov/uaddata<http://www.fhfa.gov/uaddata>.

This is the final decision on your FOIA request. If you wish to appeal any aspect of FHFA's decision on your request, you must forward within 30 days:

* A copy of your initial request;
* A copy of this letter; and
* A statement of the circumstances, reasons, or arguments for seeking disclosure of the affected record(s).

The appeal must be sent either electronically by email at foia@fhfa.gov<mailto:foia@fhfa.gov> or by mail to the "FOIA Appeals Officer" at 400 7th Street, SW, 8th Floor, Washington, DC 20019. The subject line, or the envelope and the letter of appeal, must be clearly marked "FOIA Appeal." Please note that all mail sent to FHFA via the United States Postal Service is routed through a national irradiation facility, a process that may delay delivery by approximately two weeks. For any time-sensitive correspondence, please plan accordingly. Your FOIA request is releasable to the public under subsequent FOIA requests. In responding to these requests, FHFA does not release personal information, such as home or email addresses, and home or mobile telephone numbers, which are protected from disclosure under FOIA Exemption 6 (5 U.S.C. § 552(b)(6)).
