The requested documents will be made available to the general public, and this request is not being made for commercial purposes.

In the event that there are fees, I would be grateful if you would inform me of the total charges in advance of fulfilling my request. I would prefer the request filled electronically, by e-mail attachment if available or CD-ROM if not.

"Dear requester,

This is an interim response to your electronic Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request dated Tuesday, May 9, 2023, received in our office on the same day. As indicated in your request, you are seeking for:

Records, documents, or emails with keywords: deep fake, digital deception, fake technology, blockchain, deepfakes, and or deepfake.

We will be unable to respond to your request within the FOIA’s 20-day statutory time as there are unusual circumstances which impact on our ability to quickly process your request. These unusual circumstances are: (a) the need to search for and collect records from a facility geographically separated from this Office; (b) the potential volume or records responsible to your request; and (c) the need for consultation with one or more other agencies or DoD components having a substantial interest in either the determination or the subject matter of the records.

At this time, we are unable to provide you with an estimated completion date as the office/components who will conduct records searches have not yet had time to evaluate the time needed to search and review records. We are also not able to estimate how much time will be required for inter/intra agency review until the actual records have been located.

Your request has been assigned case number SC 23-058-S. We are processing it and will be responding to you soon.
