From: New Jersey State Archives

Dear Mr. Eaton:

This is in response to your communication to this office dated June 1, 2018, received in the U.S. Mail on June 5th and then again in duplicate today, which requests the following:

"All electronic records of former-Gov. Christie's office, as described in bullet point 9 of Gov. Christie's Jan. 12, 2018, letter to the New Jersey State Archives ..."

This request will be regarded as if it cites New Jersey's Open Public Records Act (OPRA). It has been assigned the reference number C133632 by the State's OPRA Tracking System.

Please be advised that, at this time, there is some question as to which State government entity is the custodian of the records of former governor Christie not yet accessioned into the State Archives. This includes the electronic records held by the New Jersey State Office of Information Technology.

I understand from the Office of the Governor that a recent request submitted by you to that agency, using the same or similar language as your above-referenced request to this agency, has been denied as overbroad and improper. The Attorney General's Office has asked that I communicate to you that your request to this agency is denied on the same grounds.

Joseph R. Klett

Executive Director
Division of Archives and Records Management
