This is a request under the Freedom of Information Act. I hereby request the following records:

your agency's FOIA request log covering 2017, which includes a field showing the subject of each request and a field for the final disposition.

Further, I request that this document be sent in any digital formats in which it exists (such as PDF and Excel). Under the terms of the E-FOIA Amendments of 1996, Section 5, if a document exists in electronic format, it must be released in that format upon request.

The requested documents will be made available to the general public, and this request is not being made for commercial purposes.

In the event that there are fees, I would be grateful if you would inform me of the total charges in advance of fulfilling my request. I would prefer the request filled electronically, by e-mail attachment if available or CD-ROM if not.

Thank you in advance for your anticipated cooperation in this matter. I look forward to receiving your response to this request within 20 business days, as the statute requires.

I thought we responded to you previously for this request. My apologies if you did not receive our response. Here are the instructions for producing the FOIA Logs:

FOIAOnline FOIA Log Access Instructions

1. Go to https://foiaonline.regulations.gov/foia/action/public/home and select the “Search FOIA Request” button located on the right side of the page.

2. Enter search term, for example “*CEN-2014*” in the “*Search For:” field located within the “Search Criteria” box.

a. Note – The “Type” checkboxes are self-populated. Uncheck the “Appeal”, “Record (Full-Text),” and “Referral” checkboxes.

b. Highlight “U.S. Department of Commerce” located in the “Agency” drop-down menu.

c. Select and click on the “Search” button.

3. The results of the search term will appear once the “Search” button is selected.

4. Click on one of the “Export Options” at the bottom of the screen to create the log for saving to a location of your choice. For example, click on “Excel” to create the log as an Excel file.

5. On the “Save” button at the bottom of your screen.

We are in the process of adding the FY17 FOIA Log to our Census Online Library within the next week or two as well.
