In response to your request below, the County of Tuolumne and it’s Sheriff’s Office responds that the County does not track the data you requested in a record and the County is not required to either (1) generate records that do not exist or (2) respond to interrogatory questions. However, consistent with your requests in previous years, the department is still attempting to do so within the capability of its resources and requires more time. Any statistics compiled for you for the year you requested, if produced, would not imply all cases are disclosable as public records. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact me.

Please include as part of this a breakdown of how many use of force incidents in 2022 were related to law enforcement operations and how many were related to correctional/custodial operations. The software used by the sheriff’s office generally cannot obtain data departmentwide, however for the jail, the number is 19.

2. the total number of use of force incidents, separated by type of force, in 2022 (for example, information that specifies the number of taser incidents in 2022, baton incidents in 2022, etc.) The software used by the sheriff’s office cannot obtain this data.

3. the total number of civilian complaints against law enforcement that were reported and the total number sustained for 2022.
