Thank you for replying back to our FOIL request,

We have a few follow up questions:
1. Do you keep records of missing cases in your jurisdiction?
2. Do you keep these records based on race/ethnicity, gender, age, and/or other demographic characteristics?
3. If you do not have any records pertaining to missing Native Americans/Alaska Natives, do you have any records of murdered Native America/Alaska Natives in file in your jurisdiction?

Thank you in advance for your anticipated participation in the matter.

Sincerely,

Urban Indigenous Collective

To whom it may concern,

Thank you for your patience regarding our reply to this request. My records division staff and I have again searched our records and not located any records that match your requested criteria. Please see below for specific answers to your follow up questions. Also, should you have information regarding a specific case that we have not located or inadvertently overlooked, feel free to let me know so that we can research that matter.

We have a few follow up questions:
1. Do you keep records of missing cases in your jurisdiction? Yes. Missing person cases are generated as needed/reported and are kept on file for as long as needed or as prescribed by the NYS Archive Department LGS-1 retention schedule.
2. Do you keep these records based on race/ethnicity, gender, age, and/or other demographic characteristics? While we do not have a specific database with the breakdown of your listed criteria, all properly reported/collected information is made a part of our greater records database.
3. If you do not have any records pertaining to missing Native Americans/Alaska Natives, do you have any records of murdered Native America/Alaska Natives in file in your jurisdiction? Again, a search of records did not turn up any records that meet your criteria. As a rural, lightly populated county, our homicide rate is approximately one per year and the vast majority of our missing person cases are actually "runaway" cases and generally involve minors.
