To Whom It May Concern:

Pursuant to the Texas Public Information Act, I hereby request the following records:

The number of National Guard troops stationed at the Southern Border, by month, from 2000 to June 2023. If possible, I would like data at the border sector level. Otherwise, data at the state level will be sufficient.

The requested documents will be made available to the general public, and this request is not being made for commercial purposes.

In the event that there are fees, I would be grateful if you would inform me of the total charges in advance of fulfilling my request. I would prefer the request filled electronically, by e-mail attachment if available or CD-ROM if not.

Thank you in advance for your anticipated cooperation in this matter. I look forward to receiving your response to this request within 10 business days, as the statute requires.

Sincerely,

Heather Bone

Good afternoon,

This email is being sent to request clarification to your Texas Public Information Act (TPIA) request dated October 20, 2023, for:

Records showing the number of National Guard troops stationed at the Southern Border, by month, from 2000 to June 2023.

Please clarify the following terms/items in your request:
1. Does the term "National Guard troops" mean to include Texas National Guard and Texas State Guard members on state active duty?

2. When you ask for the number of troops "stationed at the Southern Border", do you mean to refer to all service members activated for the purpose of one of the border missions regardless of their physical duty location or are there specific locations this request refers to?

Your narrowing or clarification of this request does not preclude you from making future requests for additional information. After we receive your response, we can begin a search of our records for the information you are seeking. If we do not receive a response from you by the 61st day after the date this email is sent, your request will be considered withdrawn. See Govt Code § 552.222(d), (g). Good afternoon,

This email is being sent to request clarification to your amended Texas Public Information Act (TPIA) request dated November 2, 2023, for:

Records showing the number of Texas National Guard and Texas State Guard troops called to state active duty who have been active in the Big Bend, Del Rio, El Paso, Laredo and Rio Grande Valley CBP Border Patrol sectors, by month, from 2000 to June 2023.

Please clarify the following terms/items in your request:
1. Please clarify the term "active" - does this mean to include only those service members providing direct assistance to CBP or other law enforcement (i.e. not to include routine administrative rolls, etc.)? For example, only service members conducting patrols, manning observation posts, etc.?

2. Is this request specifically meant to exclude all other service members who were activated in support of border operations but not in the area of the Big Bend, Del Rio, El Paso, Laredo and Rio Grande Valley CBP Border Patrol sectors?

Your narrowing or clarification of this request does not preclude you from making future requests for additional information.
