Police camera recordings, such as responding officers body-cameras and dash-cams, related to the Suffolk County Police arrest and arraignment of William G. Sperl (Age 60), of Deer Perk, NY around 8/30/2023

This request is not being made for commercial purposes.

The requested documents will be made available to the general public, and this request is not being made for commercial purposes.

In the event that there are fees, I would be grateful if you would inform me of the total charges in advance of fulfilling my request. I would prefer the request filled electronically, by e-mail attachment if available or CD-ROM if not.

Thank you in advance for your anticipated cooperation in this matter. I look forward to receiving your response to this request within 5 business days, as the statute requires.

In accordance with your Freedom of Information request which was submitted earlier this month as it relates to "body camera/dash cam footage" and the matter noted above. Please be advised that your request is denied in its entirey. The matter in question is a "pending criminal matter" and as such, the laws governing Freedom of Information specifically allow for an exemption. This denial is in accordance with Public Officer's Law, Section 87 2(e) i.

You may, at a later date, resubmit your request for reconsideration.

In accordance with receipt and processing of your Freedom of Information request dated November 10, 2023, this communication is provided in answer to your request. Due to the ongoing criminal prosecution associated with the case in question, your request to be provided with "police camera records, such as responding officers body cameras and dawsh cams, related to the Suffolk County Police arrest and arraignment of William G. Sperl (Age 60), of Deer Park, NY around 8/30/2023" is hereby denied in its entirety.

This denial is in conjunction with Public Officers Law Section 87 2(e) i., ii. and iii.

You may, should you wish to, resubmit your request once the matter has been adjudicated.
