To Whom It May Concern:

Pursuant to the Connecticut Freedom of Information Act, I hereby request the following records:

The incident report and any supplements, such as police narratives, produced in relation to the shooting/shots fired incident at Stamford Academy on September 8, 2009.

In the event that there are fees, I would request a waiver, as I am a member of a nonprofit media outlet and these records will be used in the public interest. The requested documents will be made available to the general public, and this request is not being made for commercial purposes.

I would prefer the request filed electronically, by e-mail attachment if available or CD-ROM if not.

I also request that, if possible and pursuant to Conn. Gen. Stat. ยง 1-212(d), fees be waived as I believe this request is in the public interest and not made for commercial gain. The requested documents will be made available to the public at MuckRock.com.

In the event that there are fees, I would be grateful if you would inform me of the total charges in advance of fulfilling my request. I would prefer the request filled electronically, by e-mail attachment if available or CD-ROM if not.

Thank you in advance for your anticipated cooperation in this matter. I look forward to receiving your response to this request within 4 business days, as the statute requires.

Sincerely,

Ben Baker

This is to acknowledge receipt of your above described FOI request. Please refer to the above File No.
in any future correspondence regarding this matter.

Please be advised that the Records Division is unable to respond to your request due to its lack of specificity. We need either an Incident Report Number and/or the names of the defendant(s) in order to locate responsive documents.

The Connecticut FOI Act does not require a public agency to conduct research, which would be required in the absence of the information required.

Lastly, we do not agree to waive fees that are authorized by CGS Section 1-212. There is no public
interest in an alleged shooting incident which occurred fourteen years ago.
