To Whom It May Concern:
Pursuant to the Connecticut Freedom of Information Act, I hereby request the following records:
Your office's catalog, inventory, index, log, report, or other listing of (1) the books in your possession or control which registrars used to record birth, marriages, deaths, and burials before 1900 (including any Land Records books and/or Town or Proprietors Meeting/Minutes/Record books which include any records of birth, marriages and deaths) and (2) other books, records, and documents in your possession or control which index, copy, regroup, reference or support town birth, deaths and marriages, including communications or reports of communication from ministers, justices of the peace, sextons, and other witnesses to any aspect of births, marriages, burials, and/or deaths prior to 1900.
I also request that, if possible and pursuant to Conn. Gen. Stat. § 1-212(d), fees be waived as I believe this request is in the public interest and not made for commercial gain. The requested documents will be processed by a representative of the news media/press and made available to the public at MuckRock.com.
In the event that there are fees, I would be grateful if you would inform me of the total charges in advance of fulfilling my request. I would prefer the request filled electronically, by e-mail attachment if available or CD-ROM if not.
Thank you in advance for your anticipated cooperation in this matter. I look forward to receiving your response to this request within 4 business days, as the statute requires.
Sincerely,
Linda MacLachlan

I am not requesting copies of your pre- 1900 vital records and burials. I am just requesting a copy of your list of the books. notebooks, etc. in your vault which contain them., e.g., "Vol. __, Births, Marriages, and Deaths, 1827-1929."
Thank You,
Linda MacLachlan

I do have additional questions:
My copy of a Somers book of marriages 1827-1929 (which also contains births and deaths 1849-1929) is obviously your BDM 1827-1929.
But the other two books i am less certain of:
One is at least 180 pages long, with many births to the family of Samuel & Rachel Felt on its first page, starting with Rachel born 11 June 1722, and Samuel born 13 Nov 1728. Because it contains records through 1826, I think it is your BDM 1729-1826. Would you mind glancing at that book's first page and confirming that it records Felt family births?
The other book I am familiar with transcriptions of is in alphabetical (rather than chronological) order covering the years 1819 to 1832 in at least 155 pages. I suspect it is your BDM 1817-1850. Would you mind checking whether that volume presents its records alphabetically? If it doesn't, does one of your other books fit this description?
Thank you so much for your attention to this matter.

Linda,
Your last request of December 4, 2018 you inquired on the first page listing of name in Book dated 1729-1826, this book record starts with “Whipple” in 1729.
In book dated 1817-1850 the records are listed alphabetically.
If you have additional questions, please let me know,.
