Pursuant to the California Public Records Act, I hereby request the following records:

1. Total number of officer involved shootings 2010-2020 years including the the age, race/ethnicity, gender of person shot with year of incident
2. Total number of officer involved fatalities 2010-2020 years including the the age, race/ethnicity, gender of person who was killed with year of incident.
3. Total number of use of force complaints 2010-2020 including the the age, race/ethnicity of person arrested.

The requested documents will be made available to the general public, and this request is not being made for commercial purposes.

In the event that there are fees, I would be grateful if you would inform me of the total charges in advance of fulfilling my request. I would prefer the request filled electronically, by e-mail attachment if available or CD-ROM if not.

Due to the County mandated Shelter-in-place effective March 17, 2020, the City of San Leandro is closed to the public and is only staffing employees for essential duties for the time being.

Regarding requested item 3 the City has records available from 2015 to present which you can find on the above link.
Please note some of the information will include redactions of all information determined to be privileged or exempt from disclosure under Penal Code section 832.7, the CPRA, or other applicable law. These redactions will include, but not be limited to: 1) personal data or information, other than names and work related information, of any peace officers identified in the documents, 2) information necessary to preserve the anonymity of complainants or witnesses, 3) information necessary to protect confidential medical, financial, or other information of which disclosure is specifically prohibited by federal law or would cause an unwarranted invasion of personal privacy that clearly outweighs the public interest, and 4) any information for which there is a specific, articulable, and particularized reason to believe that disclosure of the record would pose a significant danger to the physical safety of the peace officer or another person.
