I understand the individual records are covered by FERPA but I am interested in records available that are not individual records. A mere number of academic dishonesty in numbers including documentation of process of logging academic dishonesty, how does it work it’s way through the system?

From: Truckee Meadows Community College

Dominique,
I have forward your request to the program director that oversees academic
dishonesty, Tony Futia. He is currently out of the office and will return
later this month.
Should you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact me.
Best,
Cynthia

To whom it may concern,

In response to your request under the Freedom of Information Act, I can
report that the Truckee Meadows Community College Office of Student Conduct
investigated 28 cases of academic dishonesty for the 2020-2021 academic
year. 10 cases in the fall of 2020, 18 in the spring of 2021.

When a case is reported to the office of student conduct an investigation
is undertaken to determine the facts of the case. Evidence is collected and
reviewed, witnesses are interviewed, as is the subject of the complaint.
Depending on the subject's history with the office of student conduct, some
form of progressive discipline is given out. Discipline can take the form
of a verbal or written warning, academic probation or a suspension,
depending on the circumstances. A hearing can also be part of the process,
if the student wants to challenge the findings of the office of student
conduct or the discipline the student conduct officer recommends.

All official student conduct reports/records are kept electronically
through a licensed software vendor. A physical copy of each student
conduct record is kept with the office of student conduct.

Sincerely,
Anthony Futia
