Pursuant to the Florida Sunshine Law, I hereby request the following records:
- Any complaints reported against Polk County Sheriff's Office school resource officers between Jan. 1, 2009 and Oct, 15, 2019.
- Any disciplinary actions taken against PSCO school resource officers during the above-mentioned time period.
- Any spreadsheets, logs, or other records tracking misconduct lawsuits against school resource officers during the above-mentioned time period.
The requested documents will be made available to the general public, and this request is not being made for commercial purposes.
In the event that there are fees, I would be grateful if you would inform me of the total charges in advance of fulfilling my request. I would prefer the request filled electronically, by e-mail attachment if available or CD-ROM if not.

To whom it may concern: We have recently received a number of automated public records requests from muckrock.com claiming that previous requests were not provided by our agency. Here in the PCSO Public Information Office, we have no record of a previous request with this control number (related to school resource officers). MuckRock claims this request is from 2019-please respond and let us know if this is an active request, and if so, what your public records request is. Thank you.

The crime rate in the Polk County Sheriff's Office primary law enforcement response area is at
an historic low, down 7.9% in 2019. Since 1997, the crime rate in Polk County has fallen by 79%.
In 2019, the Polk/PCSO crime rate was 48.5% less than the overall crime rate in the state of Florida.

This is regarding your public records request regarding "Any complaints reported against Polk County Sheriff's Office school resource officers between Jan. 1, 2009 and October 15, 2019." And: "Any disciplinary actions taken against PCSO school resource officers during the above-mentioned time period."
There are labor and production costs associated with your request. In order to research and compile the information you are requesting will involve 1 hour of work @ $16.60 per hour. If there is extensive redaction time associated with your request, depending on the nature and volume of the records, there may be more cost associated with the request.
If for any reason it takes less time to produce the records you have requested, we would reimburse the difference. If, for some reason, we found that it was taking more time and resources, we would notify you in advance.
For us to proceed with your request, please send a check payable for the full amount ($16.60) to Polk County Sheriff's Office, Attn: Office of Communications, and we will begin reviewing and producing the records. Our address is 1891 Jim Keene Blvd., Winter Haven, FL 33880.
