Hello:

Can you elaborate on "- Documents outlining any third-party programs or applications collecting student data" we have a main student information system that communicates with other softwares internally for transportation and school nutrition.

What type of information are you looking for?

From: Tom Nash

Hi there,

What I had in mind is any contract or agreement with an outside entity that uses student data for their own purposes. If anyone within those software companies accesses that data I'm hoping to see any related documents.

Let me know if that helps? Thanks!

Hello:

NPS does not provide student identifiable data to third parties except for the state and federal governments and then only as required by law/statute. These include state student record collections and master schedule collections and federal Office of Civil Rights data collections.

The Department of Student Support Services does not manage data and how it is released. In the Student Code of Conduct Handbook, we mention the following on pages 57-58:

If you do not want NPS to disclose directory information from your student's directory information without your written consent, you must provide written notification to the Department of Student Support Services within ten (10) school days of the distribution of this handbook. Parents may notify NPS at any time after the 10 days, but until this occurs, the following information shall be treated as directory information:

- Student's name

- Participation in officially recognized activities and sports

- Weight and height of members of athletic teams

- Photograph

- Honors and awards received

- Date and place of birth

- Major field of study

- Dates of attendance

- Grade level

- Most recent educational school or center attended

I hope this helps your inquiry. Thank you. For more information, contact Karen Tanner at ktanner@npsk12.com.
