Pursuant to the New York Freedom of Information Law, I hereby request the following records:
I request records of social media ads purchased by the NYPD on Facebook and Instagram, and Google. Facebook, Instagram, and Google AdSense allow advertisers to target specific demographics, interests, geographic areas, ages, and genders.
I’m requesting records of ads administered by the NYPD and its departments on Facebook, Instagram, and Google AdSense spanning January 2020-July 2020, including for each ad buy all information related to:
- The platform where the ads ran and date of ad buy
- Demographics that the ads target
- Interests that the ads target
- Geographical area that the ads target
- Ages that the ads target
- Gender that the ads target
- The content of the advertisement.
The requested documents will be made available to the general public, and this request is not being made for commercial purposes.
In the event that there are fees, I would be grateful if you would inform me of the total charges in advance of fulfilling my request. I would prefer the request filled electronically, by e-mail attachment if available or CD-ROM if not.
Thank you in advance for your anticipated cooperation in this matter. I look forward to receiving your response to this request within 5 business days, as the statute requires.

Please be advised that your request appears to be better directed to the NYPD, or possibly some other agency. The New York City Human Resources Administration is a social services agency, and generally does not handle advertising for the NYPD.
