Dear Mr. Trotter:

I write in response to your request for "All correspondence, written or electronic, dated between January 1 2009 and the date this request is fulfilled, between Brooklyn College President Karen L. Gould and any employee or executive of Brooklyn College discussing Brooklyn College professor Noel Anderson." I provide you with one record, an email exchange pertaining to Mr. Anderson, and in which President Gould was copied. The document has been redacted, in part, for the following reasons. Pursuant to Public Officers Law section 87(2)(g), an agency may withhold inter or intra-agency materials that are not "statistical or factual tabulations or data, instructions to staff that affect the public; final agency policy or determinations; or external audits, including but not limited to audits performed by the comptroller and the federal government..." Those portions of the emails that contain opinions, ideas or recommendations have been redacted as they are exempt from disclosure.

Other portions of the document have been redacted pursuant to Public Officers Law section 87(2)(b), which provides that an agency may withhold records or portions of records the disclosure of which would constitute "an unwarranted invasion of privacy." Those portions of the emails that contain allegations that were not proven, would, if disclosed constitute an unwarranted invasion of privacy.

If you wish to appeal the partial denial of your request, your appeal should be directed to:
