From: Committee on Open Government

Good morning,

This is in response to your FOIL request dated June 3, 2023, and received by our office on June 5, 2023, in which you request "all advisory opinions issued regarding for the City of Mount Vernon, New York from January 1st 2020 until the processing of this request." Having diligently searched our formal advisory files, I certify that we are unable to locate any advisory opinions sent to the "City of Mount Vernon" for the years 2020-present date.

To the extent that you seek advisory opinions issued to requestors other than the City itself yet pertaining to the City, we do not maintain our files in a way that would permit us to search our files for such records with reasonable effort. Accordingly, that portion of your request seeking opinions not sent directly to the City but concerning the City is not reasonably described.

If you wish to provide additional detail to your requests, such as if you know the names of people who may have requested an advisory opinion regarding the City, please let us know and we will search our records.

Your request will be closed if we do not receive a response by June 12, 2023.

Sincerely,

Christen L. Smith

From: George Johnston

Hello, this is a reasonable request as the amount of advisory opinions from the city has to be limited. I would like a copy of the all advisory opinions that originate from individuals living or working in Mount Vernon.

From: Committee on Open Government

Good morning,

The Committee organizes its advisory opinions by date and name of requestor, not residence address of requestor. The Committee is therefore unable, using reasonable effort, to search its files based on the town of residence of a requestor. For this reason, we responded to you stating that your request is not reasonably described. You may find our previously published advisory opinions on the topic of "reasonable effort" informative: 18498<https://docsopengovernment.dos.ny.gov/coog/ftext/f18498.doc>, 19150<https://docsopengovernment.dos.ny.gov/coog/ftext/f19150.html>, 19157<https://docsopengovernment.dos.ny.gov/coog/ftext/f19157.html>, 19203<https://docsopengovernment.dos.ny.gov/coog/ftext/2014/f19203.html>, 19267<https://docsopengovernment.dos.ny.gov/coog/ftext/2015/f19267.htm>.

Again, please let us know if there is a specific date(s) or requestor name(s) of interest to you and we will search our records for responsive opinions.

Sincerely,
