Pursuant to the California Public Records Act, I hereby request the following records:
1. Produce all communications between the DA's Office and Mother Jones Magazine between Sept. 1, 2020 and May 1. 2021.
2. Produce all communications between Kate Chatfield and DA staff between Sept. 1, 2020 and May 1. 2021.
3. Produce all communications between the DA's Office, Kate Chatfield, and Mother Jones Magazine that mentions Ellie Cachette, Désirée Cachette, and/or Désirée F. Cachette between Sept. 1, 2020 and May 1, 2021.
4. Produce all correspondence between Chesa Boudin, the DA staff and Mother Jones Magazine staff and freelancers, including reporters Samantha Michaels and Lil Kalish, publisher Steve Katz, editor-in-chief Clara Jeffery, and chief executive officer Monika Bauerlein.
In all cases, produce exact copies of communications and search govt accounts/devices and also personal accounts/devices of every form or app. Preserve all participants, email addresses, date/time stamps, to/from/cc/bcc, attachments (in their original electronic form).
The requested documents will be made available to the general public, and this request is not being made for commercial purposes.
In the event that there are fees, I would be grateful if you would inform me of the total charges in advance of fulfilling my request. I would prefer the request filled electronically, by e-mail attachment if available or CD-ROM if not.
Thank you in advance for your anticipated cooperation in this matter. I look forward to receiving your response to this request within 10 calendar days, as the statute requires.

We are continuing to cite the Mayor’s temporary modification of public records laws due to the local state of emergency brought on by the COVID-19 pandemic and at this time. This request produced a voluminous amount of records and we estimate the time to produce will be an additional 14 days, but will release the records on a rolling basis. Thank you.
