SCOP Cases-Fredericksburg

To Whom It May Concern:

Pursuant to Virginia Freedom of Information Act, I hereby request the following records:

I request documentation of all cases brought to court involving Special Conservators of the Peace (SCOPs). These may include but not be limited to:

-Cases where an SCOP was involved in the apprehension or arrest of a defendant or suspect
-Cases where an SCOP was implicated or accused of committing a crime (felony, misdemeanor, or infraction).

Please limit responses to those cases filed between 2012 and the date this request is processed.

The requested documents will be made available to the general public, and this request is not being made for commercial purposes.

In the event that fees cannot be waived, I would be grateful if you would inform me of the total charges in advance of fulfilling my request. I would prefer the request filled electronically, by e-mail attachment if available or CD-ROM if not.

I am free today until 5pm and can be reached at (908) 458-2734. To clarify, I am a reporter working on a story about Special Conservators of the Peace. I am trying to locate any public records of court cases where these SCOPs have been involved in arresting a suspect or instances where the SCOP himself/herself has been accused of committing a crime in your district. I realize I'm on a bit of a fishing expedition here, but any information you can provide would be very helpful. I have been in contact with the DCJS who have advised me to seek out the individual circuit courts for SCOP arrest logs, reports, or case files. Thank you for your assistance!
