Dear Requester,

In our letter we dated December 6, 2023, the following information was stated:

Due to the fact that you have asked for copies of records about yourself, we must verify your identity to ensure that your personal information is not improperly released. Pursuant to FOIA regulations, Title 6 C.F.R., Chapter I, Part 5, Subpart B § 5.21(d), you must verify your identity, including your full name, current address, date of birth and place of birth. Also, it would be helpful to supply this office with any additional identifying data which would aid us in a search for records responsive to your request (i.e., Social Security Number). If you have not already done so, please supply this office with that information.

Additionally, individuals seeking access to personal records must provide a request which includes an original/electronic signature and a notarized statement attesting to their identity or statement of declaration pursuant to 28 U.S.C. § 1746. In cases where a requester is unable to obtain the services of a Notary Public, the Secret Service will accept a requester's statement of identity which has been witnessed by a government official (i.e., caseworker, counselor, or warden). Such a document should bear the official's stamp, if applicable. The official certification of an individual's identity is necessary to ensure that an individual's file is not sent to an unauthorized third party.

Alternatively, a 'Certification of Identity' form may be submitted with your request. Please click the link below to access the Department of Justice's (DOJ) 'Certification of Identity' form.

it was sent via email from turnermason@gmail.com. If you cannot authenticate identity, then please pivot request to a private citizen maintaining his 4th amendment rights and redact any of my personal information. as per federal law as it is well established that private citizens can maintain their right to privacy and make FOIA request, you would just obviously need to make the appropriate redactions.
