Pursuant to Florida's Sunshine Law (Fla. Stat. secs. 119.01 to 119.15 (1995)), I hereby request the following records:
Any and all available pet licensing and registration data for animals within this jurisdiction. Please include all available segregable data, including but not limited to the breed of the pet, the pet's date of birth, the pet's name, the owner's address, and any other available notes.
The requested documents will be made available to the general public, and this request is not being made for commercial purposes.
In the event that there are fees, I would be grateful if you would inform me of the total charges in advance of fulfilling my request. I would prefer the request filled electronically, by e-mail attachment if available or CD-ROM if not.
Thank you in advance for your anticipated cooperation in this matter. I would request your response within ten (10) business days.

I'm reaching to provide a response to your request for records pertaining to pet licensing and registration data. Please be advised that this information is exempt from public records requests under Florida Statute 828.30 (listed below). Any records that include this information would have to be redacted to remove pet owner information. Miami-Dade County Animal Services had 207,648 pets registered in FY15/16.

Thanks so much for your message. I'd still be very interested in receiving some version of this information. Is the data available on a spreadsheet, and would it be possible to remove any columns with personally-identifying information? We're primarily interested in the animal/breed, its name, and (if possible) the zip code in which it lives.

All licensing information is contained within the Department's database, it is not available in a spreadsheet format. In addition, the information is exempt from records requests (this includes breed, pet name, and zip code). Thank you.
