From: Jess Summerlin

To Whom It May Concern:

Pursuant to the Arizona Public Records Law, I hereby request the following records:

Phone logs (including SMS/MMS) for Jason Troth and Scott Pietrzak - including TO and FROM phone numbers, direction of the call or message (inbound or outbound) and date & time stamps, from all phones (including cellular phones) under the control of Jason Troth and Scott Pietrzak of the Mesa Police Department, including any personal accounts used for agency business; during the following time-periods:
o 11/29/2018 to 12/30/2018
o 3/24/2019 to 6/24/2019
o 8/27/2019 to 9/10/2019

Please note, I am not requesting the recordings of any calls or the contents of each message, I am only requesting the phone log, which is the metadata only and includes the TO and FROM phone numbers, direction of the call or message (inbound or outbound) and date & time stamps, it does not include the contents of the specified calls or text messages, thus does not need individual review for redaction.

Phone call and text message log metadata is trivially exportable from the IT infrastructure, logs or carrier bills of any modern phone system or cellular carrier – including cloud and on-premise PBX and VoIP technologies and carrier management and billing portals such as Verizon and AT&T - and should be deliverable in a .CSV or .XLS(X), or other machine-readable format.

The requested documents will be made available to the general public, and this request is not being made for commercial purposes.

In the event that there are fees, I would be grateful if you would inform me of the total charges in advance of fulfilling my request. I would prefer the request filled electronically, by e-mail attachment or other digital download if available, or CD/DVD-ROM or USB storage device if not.

Thank you in advance for your anticipated cooperation in this matter.

I would please ask that if you deny any or all of this request, please cite each specific exemption you feel justifies the refusal to release the information and notify me of the appeal procedures available to me under the law.

I look forward to receiving your response to this request within 10 business days.

Sincerely,

Jess Summerlin
