Pursuant to the California Public Records Act, I hereby request the following records:
All LAUSD records which are Request For Proposal, Solicitations and corresponding contracts for Security and Defense Vendors/ Contractors.
I desire these records to better understand how it was in 2006 a student died at Venice Senior High and an investigation occured (According to several Press outlets) without the school premises being vacated or locked down at any stage during any attack that could have occured, or for the weeks following.
Protocols regarding lockdown are apparent and whether or not they were followed should have been of keen interest to your Agency.
If parents were not notified of the attack, or if students were allowed to investigate on campus in tandem with the press or other Agencies those Security tactics should be public knowledge. It should also be determined where responsibility was illegal or could have led to the attack itself. This information is of great value to all students and parents but also to those who seek budgetary constraints on certain forms of law enforcement.
These records of agreement, payment/exchange, bid, will serve as a directory and will provide means for third parties (person/organization/business/Agency) providing any form of security to LAUSD property to be rightfully contacted for questions and to release details pertaining to educational communities historic protections, insurance, regulations regarding liaison with Law Enforcement Agencies, whether or not that occurred before-during-after the specific event referenced here, and all violent incidents prior/ those potentially occuring today.
The requested documents will be made available to the general public, and this request is not being made for commercial purposes.
In the event that there are fees, I would be grateful if you would inform me of the total charges in advance of fulfilling my request. I would prefer the request filled electronically, by e-mail attachment if available or CD-ROM if not.
Thank you in advance for your anticipated cooperation in this matter. I look forward to receiving your response to this request within 10 calendar days, as the statute requires.

As required under California Code section 7922.535(a), the Los Angeles Unified School District (District) will make a determination within 10 days as to whether or not a request is seeking records that are publicly disclosable and, if so, to provide the estimated date that the records will be made available. There is no requirement for a public agency to actually produce the records within 10 days of receiving a request, unless the requested records are readily available. Still, the District prides itself on always providing all publicly disclosable records in as timely a manner as possible.

This letter is in response to your California Public Records Act request received in the Office of the General Counsel on June 22, 2023, in which you requested the following:
All LAUSD records which are Request For Proposal, Solicitations and corresponding contracts for Security and Defense Vendors/ Contractors.
Pursuant to California Government Code section 7922.535, the District is permitted to extend the date for responding under the following specified circumstances:
1. The District needs to search for and collect the requested records from field facilities or other establishments that are separate from the office processing the request.
2. The District needs to search for, collect and appropriately examine a voluminous amount of separate and distinct records that are demanded in the request.
3. The District may need to consult, which shall be conducted with all practicable speed, with two or more components of the agency having substantial subject matter interest therein.
4. The District may need to compile data.
In this regard, an extension is needed regarding the above-highlighted number(s). The District will respond to your request no later than the close of business on July 17, 2023, with an estimated date and time that responsive documents will be made available.
