From: Paxtyn Merten

To Whom It May Concern:

Pursuant to the California Public Records Act, I hereby request the following records:

• A copy of the bid submitted by Los Angeles in response to Amazon's request for proposals for the site of its second headquarters — document(s) which would have been sent between September 1, 2017 through January 20, 2018 — and any supplemental materials provided to Amazon at the same time.

Other finalist cities have provided us with the bids they submitted, and they typically look something like this: https://www.muckrock.com/foi/boston-3/amazon-hq2-bid-44971/#file-161828

Please provide responsive materials on a rolling basis. If you have any questions, you can reach us at 617-299-1832.

The requested documents will be made available to the general public, and this request is not being made for commercial purposes.

In the event that there are fees, I would be grateful if you would inform me of the total charges in advance of fulfilling my request. I would prefer the request filled electronically, by e-mail attachment if available or CD-ROM if not.

Thank you in advance for your anticipated cooperation in this matter. I look forward to receiving your response to this request within 10 calendar days, as the statute requires.

Sincerely,

Paxtyn Merten

Hello Paxtyn,

I am in receipt of the request for records you sent to the LA County government regarding the Amazon HQ2 proposal. However, the County was not the entity which wrote and submitted the Amazon HQ2 proposal, so they do not have it. Our organization, LAEDC was responsible for that proposal. As I mentioned in prior correspondence with you, LAEDC is a private nonprofit 501(c)(3), and not a public entity. Therefore we are not subject to the Public Records Act in this matter. Thanks and best wishes.
Thanks,
Lawren / LAEDC

Good afternoon Paxtyn,

Thank you for contacting our office. Unfortunately, the County was not part of the proposal process as stated in the email from Lawren Markle with LAEDC, so we don’t have it. I have attached the email as well. Have a good rest of your day!

Thank you,
