Communications

From: Justin Seitz

To Whom It May Concern:

Pursuant to the Alaska Public Records Act, I hereby request the following records:

I am seeking any and all submissions, communications (electronic, written or otherwise), photographs, documents or other materials submitted by your organization to the National Missing and Unidentified Persons System (NAMUS) database, maintained by the United States Department of Justice as it relates to LAURA LEE HENDERSON with NAMUS #MP66658. As the NAMUS database is itself a public record and is itself accessible via public records requests, the records you have submitted along with any communications themselves with NAMUS would also be provided as public documents and exempt from exclusion.

The record indicates that it was created on March 17, 2020 and last updated February 2, 2013 and as such I seek any records from January 1, 2020 through May 15, 2023.

The Kodiak Police Department case file #861621364 and the Alaska State Trooper record does not indicate a file number.

The requested documents will be made available to the general public, and this request is not being made for commercial purposes.

In the event that there are fees, I would be grateful if you would inform me of the total charges in advance of fulfilling my request. I would prefer the request filled electronically, by e-mail attachment if available or CD-ROM if not.

Thank you in advance for your anticipated cooperation in this matter. I look forward to receiving your response to this request within 10 business days, as the statute requires.

Sincerely,

Justin Seitz

Hello,

All of the records we have related to the Henderson were forwarded to the City Clerk’s Office for review and dissemination. The records pertaining to the National Missing and Unidentified Persons System were likely related to an audit or validation process. I don’t have any further information about those changes.

Hey Timothy,

Thanks for the prompt response, I appreciate it! My apologies, just two quick follow up questions and I should be able to get out of your hair:

1. I just want to confirm that your case files are closed for Laura Lee Henderson and sent to the City Clerk for archival?

2. Do I have to file a separate inquiry for those records?

Thanks so much, have a great weekend!

Justin

Hello,

I believe they have a request from you already which was forwarded to the police department. Yes, everything we had for this investigation was archived. I sent them everything we had at the police department.

Tim
