To Whom It May Concern:

Pursuant to the Indiana Access to Public Records Act, I hereby request the following records:

A list of the names, addresses, phone number, fax numbers, and email addresses of all of Illinois FOIA/APRA/open meetings officers.

I also request that, if appropriate, fees be waived as I believe this request is in the public interest. The requested documents will be made available to the general public free of charge as part of the public information service at MuckRock.com, processed by a representative of the news media/press and is made in the process of news gathering and not for commercial usage.

In the event that fees cannot be waived, I would be grateful if you would inform me of the total charges in advance of fulfilling my request. I would prefer the request filled electronically, by e-mail attachment if available or CD-ROM if not.

Thank you in advance for your anticipated cooperation in this matter. I look forward to receiving your response to this request within 7 business days, as the statute requires.

Sincerely,

Shawn Musgrave

Mr. Hoage,

Thank you for responding so quickly to my request. I apologize for my mistake -- I did mean to request information regarding Indiana FOIA/APRA/open meeting officers. Does your office not keep a database of relevant officers (e.g. to disseminate notices regarding its training programs)? If it does, I'd like to request a copy of that database.

Best,
Shawn Musgrave

Mr. Musgrave,

The Access to Public Records Act ("APRA") and the Open Door Law ("ODL") does not require that a public agency designate an officer or any other specific individual to respond to a request for records or ensure that the meetings of the governing body are open to the public. An agency might chose to internally select an individual to respond to APRA requests, but our office does not maintain such information. Alternatively, our office does not maintain a record/database with the contact information for agencies that are required to comply with the APRA/ODL. As such, we do not have any record that is responsive to your request.

For general contact information for a certain city/town in Indiana, you may inquire with the Indiana Association of Cities and Towns to see if they maintain a roster/database of the respective agencies. For county offices, you might consider contacting the Association of Indiana Counties. For state agencies, you can make a search under the State's website (www.in.gov), and click on the "Find an Agency" tab on the upper left side of the screen.

Please let me know if I can be of any further assistance.

Joe
