Pursuant to Florida's Sunshine Law (Fla. Stat. secs. 119.01 to 119.15 (1995)), I hereby request the following records:
A list of all personalized license plate number applications that were rejected for the year 2013.
If available I am also looking for:
-The reason for the rejection of the personalized plate.
-The vehicle make and model.
-The City and County where the applicants vehicle would be registered.
I am NOT looking for any personal identifiable information such as first and last name, street number, street name.
I also request that, if appropriate, fees be waived as I believe this request is in the public interest. The requested documents will be made available to the general public free of charge as part of the public information service at MuckRock.com, processed by a representative of the news media/press and is made in the process of news gathering and not for commercial usage.
In the event that fees cannot be waived, I would be grateful if you would inform me of the total charges in advance of fulfilling my request. I would prefer the request filled electronically, by e-mail attachment if available or CD-ROM if not.
Thank you in advance for your anticipated cooperation in this matter. I would request your response within ten (10) business days.

Since the state laws requires us to charge for the data, then we will have to charge at the rate of $0.01 per tag, $1.00 for the CD that we write the data on and $4.50 for shipping. If you wish to go forward with this request, you will need to send an email, without responding/forwarding this email to DataListingUnit@flhsmv.gov. in your request, state what you are looking for and that you agree to the fees. plus, be sure to include your mailing address.

The Sunshine Law does not delete the charges for the reproduction of the data that you request. This is per FS 320.05. I handle all vehicle and boat related requests from Law Enforcement Agencies, Government Agencies and Public Requests.

We have no way of providing an estimate of the final cost. Also, from what I have been told, the list would contain all personalized tag requests, no matter if they were approved or rejected. There is no separate list of rejected requests.
