Pursuant to the Illinois Freedom of Information Act (5 ILCS 140/1 to 11), I hereby request the following records regarding the Cook County Sheriff's Hostage, Barricade and Terrorist Team:

-- The number of members on the Hostage, Barricade and Terrorist Team, and their names and badge numbers
-- The equipment of the Hostage, Barricade and Terrorist Team, including but not limited to arms, vehicles, and other materiel
-- The dates on which the Hostage, Barricade and Terrorist Team was mobilized between January 1, 2014 and the present, and details of those mobilizations
-- Any firearm discharge reports filed as a result of actions by the Hostage, Barricade and Terrorist Team

I also request that, if appropriate, fees be waived as I believe this request is in the public interest. The requested documents will be made available to the general public free of charge as part of the public information service at MuckRock.com, processed by a representative of the news media/press and is made in the process of news gathering and not for commercial usage.

In the event that fees cannot be waived, I would be grateful if you would inform me of the total charges in advance of fulfilling my request. I would prefer the request filled electronically, by e-mail attachment if available or CD-ROM if not.

At this time, your request is denied as releasing it would disclose unique or specialized investigative techniques and as such these documents will be withheld pursuant to 5 ILCS 140/7(1)(d)(v). The records requested are also denied pursuant to 5 ILCS 140/7(1)(d)(vi) as disclosure would endanger the life or physical safety of law enforcement personnel and/or other persons.

In the event that you believe that your FOIA request was not addressed accordingly. You have a right to have the denial portion of your request reviewed by the Public Access Counselor (PAC) at the Office of the Illinois Attorney General: Public Access Counselor, Office of the Attorney General at 500 South 2nd Street Springfield, Illinois 62706.
